Lower Torqueflight gears (2.77/1.55 gearset), aluminium clutch drums, beefed governors, bands, sun gear/driving shell, reaction shaft support. Info from article in "Mopar Tech Special" magazine, Issue #7, Volume 5, Number 2 1997 Ken Renshaw contributes a source for TransGo Shift kits for later model auto trannies with lock-up feature: Outlaw Performance Systems
Chris Hemmah contributes: I found out a little more about the place I got my NP229 from. Zumbrota Bearing & Gear in Zumbrota, MN. They are a rebuilder of Manual trannys, Transfer Cases and differentials - stock just about everything. As an example, my NP229 price is $750 if you go direct (dealer's charging me $800) + shipping, and your wrecked TC. If your housing is broken, they charge an addt'l $50 per half - if both case halves are munched, your rebuilt TC will cost you $850. If you have no core, they charge you an extra $350 core charge. Their toll free number is 800-658-2537. I will let you all know how mine works out. They have a 12 mos/unlimited mile warranty on everything. You pay shipping both ways to their plant, they repair your case and send it back to you the same day (!). BTW: I am in no way affiliated with Zumbrota Bearing... just a customer. I thought the prices were pretty good, so I pass it on to you fine people! Regards,
