Jim Holden contributes:

Just last week our local old-time Jeep repair guy gave me a complete order form for Jeep Service Publications. Looking at the list of what's available it seems the books they have go back as far as 1980. Although I haven't ordered from them yet, according to this list (it's both sides of an 8-1/2 x 14" sheet in small print) they have service manuals (all separate books) for Cherokee, Wagoneer, Comanche, CJ, Scrambler and Wrangler covering mechanical, body, engine, transmission, transfer case, wiring diagrams and scheduled service for all the years '80 thru current.
Prices range from $2.00 to $25.00 each depending on what you order.

Name and address of publisher is as follows:

  • Jeep/Eagle Publications
  • c/o Dyment Distribution Service
  • Service Publications
  • 20026 Progress Drive
  • Strongsville, OH 44136
  • 800.890.4038

I went to the "New" Pate Swap Meet at the speedway today and found a company htat specializes in shop man's. They also have some owners man's, paint chips, orig ads and mags

Ted and Nelda Weems

He said they plan to do a web site eventually.

If you'd like to have a catalog of all of their manuals, give them your address and ask for the 'Chrysler Tech Authority Book'.. I just ordered this, so once I receive it, I'll scan it and have it put on the FSJ web site..

You can also mail them check or money order with a request for the catalogs.. you need to specify 'Tech Manual' or 'Owners Manual' along with year/make/model..

  • Chrysler Motors
  • PO Box 360450
  • Cleveland, OH 44136

But you're probably better off faxing them first!
You can fax them at 440.572.0815

I thought someone might be interested to know that you can get a complete catalog of all the technical documentation Chrysler has available starting with 1986 models (including Jeeps) for free upon request. The publication is called Tech Authority - Technical Training & Service Publications. - Chrysler Corporation. It looks like the only years they still have Grand Wagoneer factory shop manuals for is 1989 through 1991 ($52). For earlier years going back to '87, they have Scheduled Service ($3) and Electrical Wiring diagrams ($8) still available. (If you don't already have a factory electrical schematic, you should get one while they're still available.) For '86, all that's left for the big Jeep is Grand Wagoneer Maintenance Specifications ($3).

If you want the part number for any of the above documents, let me know.

The phone number to request the catalog or place an order is 800 890-4038. They take plastic. Don't tell 'em Mike sent ya!

Brian Colucci contributes the following:

An extensive search has brought me to a storehouse of old FSJ Material. There is a gentleman in NY who specializes in SALES LITERATURE. Do you need a sales brochure for your GW or your J Truck. This fellow says that he has material for all makes and models of automobiles that date back to the early 1900's So he can help you fellows with the Studabakers. (I hope I spelled that correctly.) He also has shop manuals and the ever illusive factory parts manuals. Keep in mind that these are original pieces not reproductions or photocopies. His prices are right on the money. Remember that thread about how somebody could get photocopies of a certain factory book for $50??? This fellow quoted me $60 for the original in the factory binding.

If you know of a unique piece that you are looking for he can probably help. Apparently he recently sold material from one of the original Jeep engineers. This material detailed the potential development of a vehicle that strongly resembled an FSJ, only it was front wheel drive; and the date was 1966! This material included many of the engineering sketches and dimensional drawings. Any of you history guys heard of this project????

He can be reached after 17:00 Monday - Friday. His name is WALTER MILLER. He lives in the Syracuse, NY area. His number is, 315-432-8282. He has a Web Page Set up some of those hot links off our pages for WWW.AUTOLIT.COM. As mentioned earlier, he Charges a nominal fee and even takes plastic.
