1976 j-10 door hinge pin replacement

    1976 j10 door hinge pins

I gave my rusty door hinges to a friend to blast them in his cabinet,

we are going to replace pins and bushings with Bj's kit.

my friend called to say there are some strange washers he has never seen before in the hinges assembly,....

he said they look like a round washer that has had two pie shaped sections cut out of the washer.
we are missing one or 2 of those....

so,....do I need some of those for the hinges

or will replacing the pins and bushings be all I need to do ?

I've done new bushing and pins on a 73 J-4600 and a couple non-Jeep trucks. I just sourced the generic bushing/pin kits from the "help" section of the local auto parts store. This has been at least 10 years ago and I don't remember any funny/odd washers? May have been new C-clips included in the kit but don't remember remember?

I replace them with passenger side hinges, as they tend to have a lot less wear.

          hinge box

I looked in my hinge box today to see what you are talking about . I see that there is a white plastic support shim with pie cuts on the ends that sits between upper and lower hinge brackets with a line down the middle for grease that must be it .

13 years ago I replaced the door hinge pins with some valves out of a engine.
Cut the valve piece off and welded some on there an mushroomed it with a big hammer.
            Still working good.
(Make sure that the pin isn't turning with the door because that wears out things fast.)
