New guy - pictures are defeating me

Hello - new guy here with a newly acquired 1979 J10. Cannot figure out how to load pictures on this site. I am a regular member over on the 1947 - current Chevy truck site, same apparent website tool/setup (at least it looks the same) and I simply upload pics from my desktop and it must auto-resize them. Piece of cake. This site has me baffled.

I opened an imgur account and they give you all these options to copy and paste links - none are accepted here. I tried direct upload from my desktop - no go.

So can you help me out with better instructions for the apparently technology challenged?

Thanks!

Scott

Here is another way to do it. There may be easier/faster ways but this works for me. First time you do it, it is going to take FOREVER but after a few pictures it gets pretty quick. I use an Iphone SE (like a 6S but smaller) That is important because different phones take difference sized pictures.

1) Take and re-size Pictures
a. I take all the pictures with my iphone
b. I upload all my pictures to my google one drive account
c. I log into my lap top and download the pictures to my desk top
d. I open them all and re-size them to 20%. 20% makes them big enough to fit on the IFSJA page without having to re-size the page. Your camera may need a different size. You will have to see what you want to do. If you do not re-size the pictures, they will be HUGE.
e. I save the smaller pic with a new name. Usually I just add an “a” to the name so it’s “00395a.jpg” or something like that
f. I re-upload them to google one drive.

2) Get the picture ready to share:
a. Open the picture in your one drive. In the top right, click the 3 dots next to the download and print icons, click “share”
b. When the share window opens, there is a drop drown in the middle, in a grey box, that will tell you what access others have. If it says “Anyone with the link can view” that’s good. If it does not say that, click the drop down and select “Anyone with the link can view”. You should only have to do this once.
c. Click “Get shareable Link” at the top. When the link is populated copy it (I use control-C, but you can right click and copy, too).
d. Open a new window and go to www.gdurl.com.
e. Toward the top you will see a window that says “paste a public Google Drive URL like https:………”. Paste the URL you just copied into window. I use control-V but you can right click and paste, too.
f. Click the button that says “Create Permalink”. Do not click the spam buttons that intentionally look like “Start” or other.
g. On the new page, you should see your picture and a window titled “Standard URL”. This “standard URL is what IFSJA needs.

3) Posting
a. Write your post. When you are ready to post your picture click the little yellow box above your text that look like a picture of a mountain with tiny cloud. It should open a window.
b. In that window make sure it has the whole link like this (space added between http and : so IFSJA does not display a picture here, you should not have a space in yours when you post) “http :www.gdurl.com/mWLy” and hit enter. Your picture will show up in your post like this:
c. Hit “Preview Post” and you should see your picture.

4) Troubleshooting
a. If your link is incorrect the picture will now post. Make sure the whole link is there like this:
b. If your access is limited in google drive (it did not say “anyone with link can view” it will not post
c. If your picture looks like a blue hyperlink, you either clicked the link button at the top (looks like an earth with an inifinty logo info front of it) or you messed up your link.
d. Make sure it is http:// NOT https://
e. Your pictures are going to show up exactly as they are in your google drive. So if your pictures are HUGE in google drive, they will be huge on IFSJA.
f. You can use the link in multiple posts. So if you post a picture in your build thread like this “” then you want to show the picture in another thread, you can copy it and paste that link into your new thread.

5) Ideas to make it faster:
a. You can link your google drive to GDURL you cut a lot of steps out. I choose not to just because sometimes I post at work, sometimes at home on my laptop, some times my destop.
b. I use a lot of Control-C and Control-V. its must faster than right clicking.
c. When I know I am going to post a few pictures, I open 3 tabs in google chrome, in this order:
d. One Drive, GDURL, IFSJA. Then I can edit my picture, get the shareable link, stick it in GDURL, get the direct link, then plop it into IFSJA.
e. I usually do my post typing, then add the pictures, then preview. If I am posting a few pictures per posting, I do all my typing, add a picture, preview it, add a picture, preview it.
f. It takes about 30 seconds total for me now, per picture. Maybe less because I am so used to it. It’s a giant pain at first but over time it goes quickly.
g. After you create your permalink in gdurl.com, if you scroll a tiny bit farther down, there is a link that says "Create another URL". Click that to clear the form for another picture.
