Cutting and fitting carpet - pics please

I have a carpet kit in my 86 wag that hasn't been cut yet. Can anyone show me pics of a finished install? Around the wheel wells, by the doors... I'm struggling to visualize.
    It followed me home, honest...
    Newly acquired 1986 GW. 4? (I think Rusty?s lift).
Needs interior work. Smells like a refinery on the outside. Relatively rust free.

The best advice I can give you is to lay the carpet out starting at the drivetrain tunnel down the middle of the floor and work your way out towards the sides where the door sill plates are.

I love how arguements end as soon as Ristow comments. Ristow is right...again.

I've read you wan to do it on a nice hot day in the sun with doors and windows closed to make it more flexible.

          great photos slow gear

          one tip I have

install bolts in floor,.... for seats, console, seatbelt

          screw them down to floor

          lay carpet on top

          once in correct position

the bolts under carpet help you find holes, so you can either mark with tape

or cut with an "x" incision

some find holes by lying under vehicle and using ice pick, etc to find holes.

just make sure carpet is in correct position before trimming or cutting holes

a sunny fall/winter day will work too, the longer it sits out before use, the better,.....

          good luck

            Thanks!

Good pics. Thank you. I always struggled to visualize how the carpet fit around the wheel well in the back. Thanks for the pics.

Solsaks gave solid advice with the bolts/ice pick. Another little hack I did: I would poke the ice pick through the floor from underneath, then where I needed a hole for a bolt to pass through, I used a 3/4" diameter metal pipe and held it with a pair of vice grips. I would heat it with a MAP or propane torch until it's super hot. Then just pressed it down over the ice pick, where I wanted the hole and the pipe melted its way through. It made perfect little circles, melted around the edges to keep it from fraying, and works quickly. But it stinks so make sure your windows are open.

I didn't take a lot of pictures during the install but you can see it here:
OK here we go! I passed CA smog on Friday the 4th of May which means its time for me to start my summer project. Plans: I have tons of little plans that will go into this but here are the high level requirements: -Engine rebuild: My 401 is going to have the compression bumped up to 9.5:1, the bottom end will be balanced, and

X2 on rang-a-stang's hot poker method. Works great
Do be sure to protect the carpet around the area where you'll be making the hole. Dropping your hot poker on your expensive new carpet is a recipe for disaster.

very good idea, can you name the "special bolt" used to retain the cargo side cover, the last pict on the above link.

                  thank you

is this a wafer head machine screw?

74 wag, 349Kmiles on original ticker/trany, except for the rust. Will it make it to the next get together without a rebuilt? Status: needs a new body.
