FI ford 300 (4.9) in Cherokee?

Ok, still have this 4.6 stroker in my Jeep, was looking to toss the OBDI system and put in a OBDII system due to better tunablity, still not fired off from rebuild.

Well, I have been tossing the idea of a 351W then I found the FI 300 out of a 92 F150 with all the wiring and ECU for a heck of a price, I just need to pull.

Right now I have the T176 and know I can get a ford bell housing to bolt right up to it for the 300. I have a nv3550 that I can / might use also.

So thoughts on how hard / easy would the 300 be? Heck, its already a 4.9, maybe I can find some bolt on performance (or use the Mercedes supercharger I have)

    Thoughts please

Don't know what it'd take in labor and money to plant it but i like the 300's. The ones I've had were great motors and would power a wag nicely if you can adapt it, but it's a looong motor so it won't be a drop-in.

The only obstacle that I recall is the length of the engine. Supposedly the 240/300 is long for an inline 6.

I recall there was a Hot Rod Book of Engines (that I somehow lost along the way) article back in the '70s about hopping up the 240/300. That was way before the days of fuel injection though, and now I'd think you could do a lot more. It's a pretty old design, introduced in 1965. I wonder whether it's different enough from the 4.6L to make it worthwhile. I'd also look into how hackable the Ford MPI is... some of the Ford EFI systems are very opaque, so I hear.

Likely there is plenty to read about hopping up the 300 on Ford truck sites.

        If a 6BT fits...

I vaguely remember a couple people in the M715 zone putting 300s in their M715s. I can't imagine a civilian FSJ being much different.

That would be an interesting swap, I have driven a few fords with the 300?s and they were pretty smooth and torquey. 92 would still be obd1 though

The ferd 300 is by far my favorite ferd engine. Never liked the trucks much but that 6 was great.
