Finished pulling the dash out so I can start fixing the rust around the cowl and windshield area.

For me, this is the most intimidating part of this project. Also, I have never had a dash this far apart, so this is all new ground to me.

Spent about an hour marking vacuum lines and electrical wires, also took some pics.

Also kicking around the idea of painting the metal part of the dash the same color silver as the Wagon. What do y'all think? Or should I keep it black, What say you. And if I go silver, do I need to paint the steering columm too or leave it black.

I vote black but it is really a personal taste thing.

The dash is the only part of my '77 interior that wasn't updated and I've been thinking I should do the metal bits blue to match the exterior (and door tops & pillars). I vote silver...looking forward to finished pics!

I'd say paint the dash silver. It will look great with the black dash pad and column. I'm going to be doing mine body color, too, with tan dash pad.

Yeah, I'll probably go silver just to be a little different than the way it came.

Weather has been to cold, wet, and damp for this Southern baw, so not a whole lot getting done right now. We even had a snow day a few weeks ago!

A friend dropped off a new welding machine at the house a few weeks ago. He does things like this from time to time with friends and family. Thanks again Scott! Built a cart and I'am ready to get after the rust around the windshield.

Have a lot of rust around the windshield lip so I started with one of the small spots.
