Attaching Emblems

Hello all.
I've got several early Wagoneer metal emblems with pins to install and was wondering if anyone had any experience grinding down the pins and using adhesive or double sided tape. These things almost feel too heavy for that, but I thought I'd check with you folks.
Just hate the thoughts of drilling 12 holes into my freshly painted Wagoneer. I also hate the thought of $200.00 worth of emblems flying off while cruising down the highway.
Any input would be appreciated.

3m double sided should work fine if the surfaces are cleaned with alcohol first.

They have adhesion promoter if you really wanna do it.

I used the 3M on the Cherokee heads as well as the other emblems and it seems to be working fine.

The adhesion promoter is in addition to the double sided tape.

Helps it stick better. I'd only use it if the paint or spot where it's going to be stuck to is in bad shape.

I used the double sided tape, the 3/4" and the 1/2", cut strips to fit the round Cherokee emblem, put them about 1/8" apart (that was as close as I could get them) and cleaned with alcohol prior to install.

I used this one to mount my Cherokee S emblems and its pretty amazing stuff. Peel it, Stick it to the back of your emblem, trim it with a razor, peel the backing and jam it on your truck. I am pretty sure its the same stuff 8Man used...
