    Heads up on water pumps

If you have a 1971-1972 Jeep with a 304 or 360, you are now hosed if your water pump goes out. Gates used to manufacture new water pumps and A1 Cardone used to remanufacture water pumps. They were the two suppliers to auto parts stores near you. Both have ceased production of the 1968-1972 AMC V8 water pump and current stock is depleted. 1973 and up pumps are still available and will be for some time but the depth of the pully drive flange is different.

So, if you have a 1968-1972 AMC V8, get used to waiting a while to replace or rebuild your existing water pump. Yours will have to rebuilt or you will have to find a rebuilt one. Or change your engine accessory drive to accept a 1973 and up pump.

Kennedy American AMC and Galvin's AMC-Rambler Parts both offer rebuilt water pumps (upon core exchange) or can send your own pump out for rebuilding. Kellogg Automotive in Phoenix, Arizona also rebuilds water pumps. Expect a 3-4 week turnaround to have your existing pump rebuilt.

    Fan freaking tastic, isn't it?

I love how arguements end as soon as Ristow comments. Ristow is right...again.
