Should all the screws securing the regulator to the tailgate have a stand off. I took mine apart today and there were only 3. There are 6 screws holding it to the body.

IIRC it is one at the bottom and two at the top and the regulator has to be positioned just right to access all three.Originally posted by Ristow

parts book does call out for quantity of 6 spacers.Tom Gibson
1980 J20 Utility bed truck. Factory cab and chassis truck. Many new mods for it but it will look all stock.
1985 J10 nothing special just a nice clean stock truck.
1977 Honcho "Blue" 401/400/quad. Under going major upgrades.."This is Not Your Fathers Honcho", it may not even be a Honcho anymore when done.
2017 Challenger. Very jealous of the Jeeps.

When I turned my regulator over after I removed it, I could see distinct circular wear marks where all the screws were on it. Their is definitely a few more signs that the PO had been monkeying around in there. The more I try to fix the more I find.Life happens while you are making plans...............
