hey.
today i finished my latest pilgrimage to mecca. oops, i mean my latest salvage yard scouting run. the c.a.r.s. clunkers are starting to show up in the yards now. the sign at the gate warns that they don't sell the engines or heads from the clunkers and they are marked with special paint.
the clunkers are sure overloading the yards. since these are gas guzzlers, the truck/suv/van sections are crammed with vehicles and the whole yard is getting disorganized. many of these are not typical salvage yard denizens, as the program required running, driving, insured vehicles. so, generally the interiors and body parts are in better condition.
i didn't see any fsj clunkers on my run today,( about six non-clunkers) but i expect to see some soon. many of the gwags i knew of that had been for sale for a long time have disappeared... i will report on them for the local board (socalfsj), but my tastes run towards the widetracks.
