    Headlights...Resto Mod

Starting to wire up my currently naked..( of anything electrical) J20 Stretched cab restoration.
I will be using the razor grill and round bezels...but I would like to find and install a completely modern headlamp system. Thing is I have no clue as to what that means.
I would appreciate suggestions as to what I might look at.
The standard location is in tact and I have no bucket installed at this time....I'd love to use something that incorporates LED (always on) and HID..? Hi and lo beam in a single round configuration.
Any Ideas? or has this already been done? Can you point me to any links?
    Thanks

    Here's my razor grill conversion

Used those little clamps to center the bucket, then tack welded it in place

Had to move the trans cooler to the backside of the brackets to clear grill.

Well, you can do a H4 upgrade if you want the stock look, and they are pretty bright, but I think your looking for something more modern, so i would suggest the LED headlights available in the aftermarket for JK Jeep Wranglers. Example would be the ones from JW Speaker.

Theres really no good way to do HID in the stock light dimensions, the reflector just isnt the right shape. But its doable, and Im sure someone out there makes it. At the very least you can get HID conversion bulbs that fit into a H4 headlight.

Hella H4 E-code lamps. The "E-Code" (Euro) have a great light pattern.

Do you have an annual inspection in your area? The E-codes have a great pattern, but they would not pass inspection here.

I'm running the AutoPal DOT-approved H4s in my J20. Cheap - significantly cheaper than the Hellas. H4 is a halogen bulb. I also use relays to take the load off of the original switches, and boost brightness a little.

No Tim, none of that here. Though they don't have DOT embedded into the lense, I just run the stock high/low wattage (35/55?) Never felt a need for going higher. Run'em in all my round eye cars/trucks/bikes. Never had an issue with LEO's either.

                  Rhino Chaser

Near rig. It appears to be a wrap finish on a pretty clean 87 GW.

Google "Rhino Chaser" I would love to see a pick up done in that style by Jonathan Ward. Love the front bumper and lights.

I use these in my 1975 J-10, 1998 wrangler, and 1997 Cherokee that I sold. I also did the relay harness upgrade to all of them. I absolutely love them.
