Last week I added to my accumulation of Jeeps this 1970 J3000 with a pre-1970 grill (actually 2 grills - an extra rhino grill was in the cab of the truck and an extra 350 Buick engine in the truck bed). This is my first fsj. I'm fairly experienced with the XJ/MJs now looking forward to getting an fsj education here in this forum and in the garage. At first glance just about all the mechanicals are roughly twice the size of XJ/MJ mechanicals.

Merry Christmas. Ya done good. Looks like a nice unmolested truck. Parts will be a hunt but if in well maintained and condition stock trim it'll be a good usable rig. IMHO (flame suit on) the 350 Buick was the best V8 Kaiser ever put in a FSJ.joe

Plans for the J3000? Make it work like it should then make it look nice and after that put it to work driving to and from the farm and hauling and pulling stuff when needed. Nothing extreme planned at this point in time. Started out with the idea of having a full size truck that could get around in the mud and snow and do what full size trucks do. I couldn't get excited about any of the typical offerings so I ended up with this - a truck with character and a heritage and definitely distinctive.

Got this in the mail today.
It looks and smells like it came from the service area.
The book says I have a 3406X19 which is a J-3600 126" wheelbase with a 6000 lb. GVW, left hand drive and a V-8 with Exhaust Emission Control (originally a California truck I would say).
Much to learn and do. Oh boy . . .

Looks good !
It's a '70 built in 1969 (grille and reflectors)
Except some trucks for export, all the '70 got exhaust emission control, in all states
Do you have a yellow sticker in cab with vin and production date ?Last edited by mud89; 01-03-2019, 03:38 AM.J10 sportside '81, J10 Golden Eagle '77, Wagoneer '65, Gladiator '64 + parts rigs

Great find!
Ironically, you'll discover that the major improvements to your fsj will be reverse engineered parts from other brands/vehicles; hei, steering link, hydro-boost, F.I., etc. It's a thing, but no worries it's fun and addictive. The guys here are a wealth of info, bring beer and pictures they like that.
