2006 Midwest FSJ Gathering

I would like to get the ball rolling on this event.
I had an excellent time at the 2005 Midwest FSJ Gathering that I would love for us to do it again.
I did not even bring a FSJ and rode with MillerLuck.

The purpose of this post is to measure the interest of having a 2006 Midwest FSJ Gathering.

Just because I have started asking, does not mean that I will champion this effort.
Jeremy Smith performed an outstanding job as chairman of the 2005 event.
I would like to hope that he continues for 2006.

Jeremy, you choose accept, please feel free to count on me for any assistance that you need.
If you do not, I could stand in as a substitute.
As I am currently out of work, I do not know what or where I will be later in the year.
But, I am planning to attend regardless of my situation.

In order to get started, we need to chat about some of the basic elements of this event.
I thought about making a poll, but decided that a open discussion would work for now.

FIRST
Do we want to have an 2006 Midwest FSJ Gathering?

SECOND
Would you attend and/or support it?

THIRD
Roughly, when would you like to have it?

FOURTH
Roughly, where would we like to have it?

FIFTH
Roughly, how much would you being to pay for camping, trail fees, etc..upfront?
This is so the chairman/sponsor/coordinator does not get stuck with paying for something that is not used or needed.

SIX
Would you pitch in for food for a fireside, camp style dinner?

I do understand that several folks said they were planning to come and then did not show up.
We did have a rather limited number attend.
I hope this does not discourage anyone from not attending this year.

Sounds like a good idea to me! If everyone wants, I'll put another together. Of course, I have to get my act together and get the old cherokee up and running. I'm open to locations, if there's enough interest, we'll get a poll goin!

Thank You for accepting the nomination to be the chairperson for the 2006 Midwest FSJ Gathering.
I hope that it will be an annual event.

I am like you with regards to a FSJ.
After the 2005 Midwest FSJ Gathering, I got my J20 fixed in time to help my brother haul home a 1980 Chevy Diesel 1/2 ton pickup project.

I discovered on this 'shake down' trip, several flaws.
I need a new distributor and the carb needs adjusted.

The major flaw is the #1 cylinder, intake lifter has collapsed or worse the cam lobe is flat.
On startup, it is a loud tick tick tick, then after it warms up, it quiets down.
Once out on the road, the volume of the tick tick tick, comes and goes, but never goes away.

I had planned to correct all these with the sole purpose of heading back to Silver Lake this year.
Now that I am out of work, my plans are more uncertain.

Like I said earlier, to the best of my ability, I plan to attend this year's Midwest FSJ Gathering!!
...and next year and the year after that!

I also agree that a poll should be created.
My thoughts were to gather some preliminary info to create the poll from.

Hi it's been a while sence I have replied I am working a lot! I tried to go last year and my tire flew off!!! on
the way to the gathering. I have up graded a little sence then. I will go this year! Have you though about having it at Crackers neck-in Johnson City Tenn. There are two locations that are with in 20 miles of each other conected by a paved road with camp sights and local hotel. and I Think July would be great. My Husband and I live about 1 and a 1/2 hours from there and we would help set thing up if you need help. we have the web sight listed some were we will let you know it find it.

Count me in.

Jeremy you did a great job putting everything together last year. Thanks.

I'm planning on going to the Mounds ORV park near Flint MI soon.

This web sight is geard towards dirt bikes but you get the idea.

I do love Silver Lake Michigan too.

KY would be cool.

Bad Lands in IN....always wanted to go there.

I'm up for wheeling anywhere.

A poll for a location and date would be great.

For a location how about somewhere south of Michigan? June/July time frame is good to shoot for.

OK - I'm starting to get some things going. I think I'm going to do the location poll a little different. I'll do one to narrow it down to the top three sites, then a final location. Probably do it similar for the dates. Here's a map and preliminary list of sites to start thinking about. If you know any others, post up!

Frapper Map for the Gathering Drop your locate here, and if there are any other possible sites, we'll get them on there, too.

Give a couple days for a few other site suggestions. You don't want silver lake, because you want to see drummond island, right?
