    Why an FSJ?

Alright everyone, this one comes from my wife....
Why do YOU pick a Fullsize Jeep over a Blazer,Suburban,K10-30 or Bronco,F series 4x4,Ramcharger or Powerwagon?
For me it's because having a Chevy is like a 10 dollar hooker... there are at least 5 on every corner. A Ford...I would love to have an F250 4wd 6.9. A Dodge, dunno, never had one.....Besides, I NEED 4 doors and a cargo space for my sons wheelchair. My '89 Suburban R2500 works just fine, but is only 2wd and has a gas guzzling big block.
    So whats your reason?

Because a family member gave it to me for free.

Plus I grew up in a Grand Cherokee and was always attached to it from a very young age. My first words were "car" and "tire", both involving that Jeep. I guess one could say I was born into it and when I came of age to get a vehicle of my own, wanting a Jeep just came naturally.

I love how arguements end as soon as Ristow comments. Ristow is right...again.

      Pretty much agree

Mine is a little different from everyone else I primarily built mine for a little offroading & a boat hauler.

Anybody can have a Camaro Mustang Blazer bronco Etc ETC. Not many cool FSJ's. I put about 4 dreams togehter into one. I've always wanted a panel truck, 4WD Cruiser. hamburger stand (KELLERS) on saturday night & lake house rig. I've had FSJ's of all types. I had a B4C Camaro that I put tons into & the wife totaled it so Hotrods were out. I wanted something no one else had & no one wanted to drive.

Not being everyones cup of tea is the idea. In the day This is what bronco & blazer were aspiring to be.
      There it is.

If you can't make it better why waste your time. No use repeating the orignal mistakes. I'm to old to push it that's why.

            1. Got the jeep bug -> wrangler
            2. i discovered that there was more fun with an old school jeep -> CJ
            3. Wanted a pickup and still a jeep enthusiast -> J10
            ..

BTW i got an old Dodge and i like it also. It's a nice big workhorse but i didn't get the dodge bug yet

Because anything else from the big 3 are far too expensive. People with K-5 Blazers, Broncos, Ram Chargers, K-10/20s, and F-150/250s want at least $3000 for a rotted out clapped out pile of junk where I have paid, at the most, $1500 for fairly rust free FSJs on multiple occasions. Oh, and don't even get me started on the CJ/Wrangler crackheads. The Cherokee I have now is in pretty decent shape and I only paid $1157 for it. Heck I'm even getting a J-10 for free here soon. Plus FSJs are just plain old neat, not every hillybilly and their mother has one.

for me it is the epitome of Jeep and Way of American Life
Here in europe we have a lot of folks which want to be cool, but they aren`t cool, because they have the Dodge Pick Up`s "from the rack", with straight pipe, and drive around the city with the arm out of the window frame, and making one of big chief
And this is one of the reason that i want a dinosaurs. By the way is the Chassis one of the timeless one, a classic!

First off because it doesn't look like everything else on the road!
Back in the early eighties I want a bronco or blazer but they were way over priced so I found a deal on a Ramcharger which I bought and sold twice then I saw a j20 on the tv show Dallas and was hooked it was like nothing else I had seen. Then in the military I got to drive a brush truck j 20 in the fire dept and that was all it took to seal the deal! Could I be happy with something else? If it was given to me yes but I would still be longing for a fsj!

hard to put in words, but it defines what a vehicle should be, It is a spiritual attraction. Id say its not rational and only opinions can be crafted to answer your question.

Dad bought a 52 Willys station wagon in 67, been hooked ever since, guess you can say its a drug, an addiction, a way of life, a message or statement

From the outside looking in, it probably makes no sense to the rational person like your wife

I was brought home from the hospital in dad's J4000, 16 year later it was my first "car", you can imagine after a farm truck that long it had issues, I leaned how to wrench, weld and bondo on that truck.
I guess above all out, it is what I know, and they are in my blood (and my blood in or on them anyway) Had a CJ for a while, it was fun, miss the topless in the summer, but in just never felt "right"

It's the perfect rig for a gear head. I remember when i was a kid looking at cars go by and thinking man i want that car! Now that i have my wag i get that every where i go and i love it! The appreciation for all the hard work you put into a vehicle shows easily with fsj's because there is so few of them on the road.

Love at first sight. First time I saw one (at 16) I was hooked. No previous family history, no rides from neighbors, nothing. A J-2000 truck was my first vehicle in '83 and I've never been without one.

Besides, who wants what everybody else has?
