    Transmission pan

What is the best/easiest way to get to and then correctly torque the pan bolts that are right above the cross member/brace?

Just the regular transmission pan? On my 83 I was able to access all of the bolts without and issue. Is the gasket leaking?

It?s leaking enough to warrant a new gasket.

I?ll try and get a good picture.

Make sure you don?t overtighten the bolts either, that will cause a new gasket to leak as well.

so now that i'm over thinking everything...

Can anyone recommend a replacement pan with drain plug? there are tons out there.... I figure if i will have it off, may as well put a new one on with a plug so I don't have to do this every time.

              thanks

I bought an after market plug where you drill a hole and install the drain plug.

Can you weld? Cut a pipe coupler in half and weld on. Install plug.

Mopar Part Number P3690730AB is a deep pan w/filter extension that fits our vehicles (w/727 TF) perfect. Mopar also has a reusable pan gasket that is really nice but unfortunately I do not have the p/n.

I have the Mopar steel deep pan - went in no problem, holds an extra couple quarts, and there's now a drain plug!

Will make the next filter change a long time from now a lot less messy.

                        10/10 would do again.

How much deeper are the Mopar pans? When I looked a few years back about installing a deeper pan it didn't look like I could get to the back bolts to tighten them.

It has been many years since I've installed the Mopar deep trans pan. I don't remember having any major problems installing it.

yes you will have bolt access issues, i notched my crossmember in one place and drilled a hole or two in others , also helps to have smallish hands
