You're right Hubjeep. I think it's more politics than anything else.

Basically the same beaches there's also Smith's Point. I haven't gotten my pass this year (yet) but it really is a shame due to erosion that so many beaches are being closed to be "rebuilt"..... there's so much land out east that could be opened into an off-road park.... it'll never happen though.

Yup, I'm on the island, out east, in all the farm land. There are places to drive on the beach here as long as you go at the specified hours and have a sticker from Suffolk County Parks Dept. Lots of other land that would be nice to drive on but is either illegal or private, a shame really because opening a nice ORV park out here in an old sand pit or such would be a great economic boost in an area where a lot of people have dirtbikes, ATVs, and 4x4s, with nowhere to ride them anymore.

Just a heads up. The Long Island Chapter of the American Truck Historical Society is holding their annual show this coming weekend 7/17-7/18 at the Hallockville Farm on Sound Ave in Riverhead. Would be great if we could get a few FSJ's together for it. Unfortunately mine won't be ready till next years show.

I drive past Hallockville almost every day, perhaps I'll give a few revs of the engine as I drive past on my way to and from work Saturday.

Hub will you ever stop trolling for more boyfriends with transfer cases???

Is that Waggy even a rolling chassis yet? I towed my Waggy home this weekend and the neighbors are loving it...... NOT

Its going into storage for the time being but it will be getting spruced up soon.

You should host another BBQ...btw, do you do spring over swaps at those?lol

I'm thinkin a nice surround sound system for this Jeep: creaking u joints up front, rattling downpipes below, axle wrap in the rear, billowing headliner above and humming bias mud tires all around...think we can do that at the bbq?

I'm out in Bayport. Have some experience with XJ's and had 2 CJ's a long time ago. Just moved up to a FSJ, so I'll be on here a lot.

Im in Ridge. Good to see a few more LI Jeepers.

Would be nice to plan a meet and greet before it starts to snow.

Reviving an old thread to see if anyone could recommend a good mechanic somewhere on Long Island (both Nassau and Suffolk). I'm a new owner on Shelter Island who needs to work through a few gremlins. Thanks!

I use a mobile mechanic. Haven?t had to call him in a while, but he knows me. Tell him Jeff in Freeport gave you his number. I think he is only available on weekends now. Walter 516-315-2669, he does a good job and is reasonable with pricing.
